Celebration of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 2nd October 2019
In celebration of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 2nd October 2019, a programme was held in Nagaland University’s headquarter Lumami and the University campuses.
In the headquarter Lumami, the programme started at 9 am with PLOGGING (jogging while collecting litter in a bag) from University Health Centre to Main Administration Building. Thereafter, Prof. Pardeshi Lal, Vice-Chancellor, Nagaland University launched the ACTION PLAN and MANUALS for JAL SHAKTI CAMPUS & JAL SHAKTI GRAM, and SWACHCH CAMPUS. Volleyball competition was also organised between Research Scholars and Staff members. The programme in the University campuses were organised under the care of the Pro-Vice-Chancellors.
The Manuals have been prepared by MHRD and prescribed for National rankings for all 40000 Higher Education institutions in the country. The manuals are intended to help Higher Education institutions including Universities, Colleges, and Polytechnics in developing strategies, action plans, and implementation plans for water conservation on the campuses and in the villages where they are engaged under National Service Scheme (NSS), Swachhta Action Plan (SAP), and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA). Sanitation, hygiene and water conservation are national prime requisites for development.
The programme was attended by Prof. Bharat B. Aggarwal (Founding Director, Inflammation Research Center, San Diego, California, USA), Prof. Dipak Sinha (Director, IQAC), Dr. Krishna Kant Upadhyay (Director, CDC), Dr. Upasana (Planning Officer Incharge), Dr. Bendang Ao (Programme Coordinator, NSS), Prof. Sarat Chandra (Dept. of Zoology); Mr. Shailendra (Principal, KV), Faculty, Officers, administrative staff, Research Scholars, and students of Nagaland University as well as Kendriya Vidyalaya NU Lumami.
